The theme Smith's Camp allows visitors to sit around our
campfire and share some old times. Many of my favorite memories
are from one of many camping trips from early childhood to present
day. A camping trip would not be complete without some "shooting
the bull." This page will continue that tradition as an
occasional journal of our family and friends.
The Fire Station affords many an opportunity for sharing
the bull either during training or while in service. There is
a special feeling about being a firefighter, and only a firefighter
knows it. There's something even more special about being a volunteer
firefighter. And only a volunteer firefighter knows that feeling.
This page will continue as an occasional journal of volunteerism
in the fire service, which now spans well over two hundred years.
As time goes on I believe the term "Curmudgeon"
suits me well. Although I do not profess myself as ill tempered
or full of resentment I am proud to be full of many stubborn
notions. I must confess to having changed a few of those notions
as a form of survival with a teenage son and with young volunteers
in the house. I wear the term "old dog" well but also
found that old dogs can learn new tricks.
I'm having fun looking for new material to make this site
of interest. Grab a cup, sit down and jaw a spell. Send me some
electronic bull, if it's good I'll share it around the camp.
